No part of our Federal, State or personal budgets has risen faster or will cost us more in the future than our health care. Lets concentrate on one side of the Health Care debate. The cost of prescription drugs is out of control. In the USA we pay the highest costs for these drugs, far higher on average than our neighbors to the north in Canada, and in Europe they pay even less. Aside from the fairness of the whole price structure, the part that irritates me the most, we subsidize the Research and Development of these drugs through our taxes. We not only pay the highest prices for these drugs, we also subsidize the creation of them. Basically we are paying twice for the same product. That is Wrong. If the drug companies insist on the higher prices for their drugs then the rest of the world should help pay for the cost of development. We should end all subsidies for the drug manufacturers. We should stop paying twice for the same drugs.
